Lochgoilhead is located in the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park and it is possible to arrive via public transport. A car is better if you want to explore the area, but there are many things available in the area easily reached from Shoreside Holiday Home.

By car – 40 miles from the Erskine Bridge and the M8 at Glasgow
Take the M8 to the Erskine Bridge then follow the A82 to Tarbert. At Tarbert, go straight on to the A83 to Arrochar. Follow the road through Arrochar around the head of Loch Long up the ‘Rest and be Thankful’. When the road reaches the top, take a left turn following the sign for Lochgoilhead (the turn is signposted but it can be easy to miss, especially in the dark. If you start heading down and see a small loch on your left hand side then you have just missed the turn).From the top of ‘Rest and be thankful’ it is 6 miles to Lochgoilhead. The road now becomes a single track road and has a lot of sharp bends – make use of the passing places! After about 3.5 miles you approach a ‘T’ junction and you bear left to Lochgoilhead. Follow the road until you see a turn off to the right to Carrick Castle – don’t turn right, head straight on over the bridge and continue through the village till you reach the loch side. By car – 30 miles from the ferry arriving via Hunters Quay
Arrive on the frequent Western Ferries service from Gourock to Hunters Quay. Follow the A815 road to Glasgow. Continue through Strachur and St Catherines. Approximately 2 miles after St Catherines take a right turn onto the B839 to Lochgoilhead. The road now becomes a single track road and has a lot of sharp bends – make use of the passing places! After about 3.5 miles you approach a ‘T’ junction and you bear right to Lochgoilhead. Follow the road until you see a turn off to the right to Carrick Castle – don’t turn right, head straight on over the bridge and continue through the village till you reach the loch side.
